WALNUT BUTTER BAKLAVA
Baklava is one of those desserts that seem difficult to make, buts it’s actually quite simple! Our take involves a filling of chopped walnuts and walnut butter (we used original, but either flavor would be fun to play with as well!)
For the filling, mix together:
2 C finely chopped walnuts
1 C Wellnut Farms walnut butter
1 t cinnamon
Cut your thawed phyllo dough down to fit a 9×13″ pan. Melt 7oz of butter, and brush the bottom of the pan. Lay down a sheet of phyllo, then brush with butter. Repeat for 7 sheets, then spread half of the walnut butter mixture evenly. Add another 7 layers of buttered phyllo, then repeat with walnut butter. Finish with 7 more sheets.
Slice halfway down the stack into whatever shape you’d like, then bake at 300 for an hour or so, until golden brown. When done, pour 1 1/2 C of melted honey over the whole pan, focusing on the scored lines. Once cooled a bit, finish cutting all the way and ENJOY!
